El Nido is a municipality in the province of Palawan in the Philippines. There are ageless towering limestone cliffs as well as white sandy beaches with crystal clear water. You will also find enchanting lagoons with turquoise green water. There are caves with dripstone formations that can take you to hidden beaches.
My family visited El Nido in May 2007. We took an Island
Transvoyager flight from Manila to El Nido. It is a 75 minute flight to
Lio Airport in El Nido, and from there a 40 minute boat ride to Lagen
Island Resort. Lagen Island Resort offered us a wide range of
activities like island hopping, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking,
mangrove river tours, cave tours and bottom fishing. We learned more
about protecting our environment by joining guided eco tours. An
eco-checklist was provided to us to monitor and record any wild life
seen. It was not only a vacation but definitely a learning experience.
We enjoyed our vacation in El Nido, the Philippines' Last Frontier.
