Bohol is an island province of the Philippines. It is located in the Central Visayas, Region VII. Bohol is a popular tourist destination. My family visited Bohol in December 2004. We stayed in Bohol Beach Club in Panglao Island. Panglao Isand is known for its amazing white beach, diving locations and tourist resorts.
The Chocolate Hills in Carmen, Bohol is considered one of Philippine's natural wonders. These hills that form near perfect cones are made of limestone. There are more or less 1268 hills. During summer, the hills turn chocolate brown. From this color, the hills derive their name.
The Philippine tarsier (
Carlito syrichta )
is an endangered species of tarsier endemic to the Philippines. It is found in the islands of Bohol, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao. There is a tarsier sanctuary in the Philippine Tarsier Foundation in Corella, Bohol. We were able to see tarsiers in Loboc.
Bohol was the seat of the first international treaty of peace and unity between the native king Datu Sikatuna, and Spanish conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, on March 16, 1565 through a blood compact alliance known today as "Sandugo" which means one blood.
