A MUST SEE : Puerto Princesa, Philippines

Puerto Princesa is located in the mid-section of Palawan, Philippines. It is known as the ecotourism capital of the Philippines.

My family visited Puerto Princesa in October 2008.  We took a Cebu Pacific flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa. It is a 70 minute flight to Puerto Princesa Airport.  We stayed in The Legend Palawan.

Honda Bay

We went to Honda Bay, a place to go for swimming, snorkeling, island and beach hopping. Snake Island has a sandbar about 3 kilometers long.  A perfect place to go snorkeling.

Puerto Princesa Underground River

Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, more commonly known as the Underground River, is the longest underground river in the world (over 8 Kilometers in length).  The cave includes major formations of stalactites and stalagmites. This place was declared UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999.  Last January 2012, Puerto Princesa Underground River was officially proclaimed as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.

We were able to go to the Butterfly Garden and Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center referred to by the locals as "Crocodile Farm".  Our vacation in Puerto Princesa is one of my favorites. It was both a vacation and a learning experience.

Definitely,  a must see ...... Puerto Princesa, Philippines.

El Nido, Palawan ..... a paradise in the Philippines

El Nido is a municipality in the province of Palawan in the Philippines.  There are ageless towering limestone cliffs as well as white sandy beaches with crystal clear water.  You will also find enchanting lagoons with turquoise green water.  There are caves with dripstone formations that can take you to hidden beaches.

My family visited El Nido in May 2007.  We took an Island Transvoyager flight from Manila to El Nido.  It is a 75 minute flight to Lio Airport in El Nido, and from there a 40 minute boat ride to Lagen Island Resort.  Lagen Island Resort offered us a wide range of activities like island hopping, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, mangrove river tours, cave tours and bottom fishing.  We learned more about protecting our environment by joining guided eco tours.  An eco-checklist was provided to us to monitor and record any wild life seen.  It was not only a vacation but definitely a learning experience.

We enjoyed our vacation in El Nido, the Philippines' Last Frontier.

Bohol, Philippines

Bohol is an island province of the Philippines.  It is located in the Central Visayas, Region VII.  Bohol is a popular tourist destination. My family visited Bohol in December 2004.  We stayed in Bohol Beach Club in Panglao Island.  Panglao Isand is known for its amazing white beach, diving locations and tourist resorts.

The Chocolate Hills in Carmen, Bohol is considered one of Philippine's natural wonders. These hills that form near perfect cones are made of limestone. There are more or less 1268 hills.  During summer, the hills turn chocolate brown.  From this color, the hills derive their name.

The Philippine tarsier ( Carlito syrichta ) is an endangered species of tarsier endemic to the Philippines.  It is found in the islands of Bohol, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao.  There is a tarsier sanctuary in the Philippine Tarsier Foundation in Corella, Bohol. We were able to see tarsiers in Loboc.

Bohol was the seat of the first international treaty of peace and unity between the native king Datu Sikatuna, and Spanish conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, on March 16, 1565 through a blood compact alliance known today as "Sandugo" which means one blood.

Want to go on a vacation, but can't decide where to go?  I recommend a vacation in Bohol.

Boracay, Philippines

Boracay is a famous island in Southeast Asia.  This island belongs to the Western Visayas group or Region VI of the Philippines.  Boracay is a part of Aklan Province. In the 1990s, Boracay beaches were acclaimed as the best in the world.  This year, the Philippine Department of Tourism  reported that Boracay had been named the world's second best beach after Providenciales in Turks and Caicos Islands.

My family first visited Boracay in May 2004.  We stayed in the Boracay Regency.  We enjoyed island hopping, snorkeling and eating fresh seafoods.

It was awesome to see the white powdery sand in Boracay's White Beach, Bulabog Beach and Puka Beach. We were able to see Crystal Cove, an isolated island found between Caticlan and Boracay.

My family returned to Boracay after 6 years. This time, we stayed at Microtel Boracay. My children enjoyed snorkeling, island hopping and taking a ride inside the Zorb ball.

When you want the best beach vacation complete with all the leisure activities, night life and the best local cuisine, consider one of the world's best vacation destination, BORACAY.
